New title, new star, new [additional] book [material]! Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Bad Cinderella is headed towards its Broadway debut after a 2021 West End world premiere, with performances set to start February 17 at the Imperial Theatre. Following a disappointingly short U.K. run, the fairy tale musical is reportedly getting somewhat of a facelift as it crosses the pond. We already knew about the new title and revised lyrics, but now we know Emerald Fennel's book is being tinkered with as well. The production has brought on Our Dear Dead Drug Lord playwright Alexis Scheer to provide additional book material.

As it did on the West End, Bad Cinderella (formerly just Cinderella) will feature a score by Lloyd Webber, lyrics by David Zippel, and a book by Fennel. Laurence Connor is back at the helm after staging the London run, with choreographer JoAnn M. Hunter, scenic and costume designer Gabriela Tylesova, lighting designer Bruno Poet, and sound designer Gareth Owen also returning.

Linedy Genao will lead the company in the title role, sharing the stage with Carolee Carmello as the stepmother, Grace McLean as the Queen, Jordan Dobson as Sebastian, Morgan Higgins as Marie, Sami Gayle as Adele, and Christina Acosta Robinson as Godmother.

The ensemble will include Raymond Baynard, Michael Baerga, Lauren Boyd, Tristen Buettel, Kayleigh Cronin, Josh Drake, Ben Lanham, Angel Lozada, Cameron Loyal, Mariah Lyttle, Sarah Meahl, Christian Probst, Larkin Reilly, Julio Rey, Lily Rose, J. Savage, Tregony Shepard, Dave Schoonover, Paige Smallwood, and Aléna Watters, with Alyssa Carol, Gary Cooper, Robin Masella, Michael Milkanin, Chloe Nadon-Enriquez, and Lucas Thompson rounding out the company as swings. Savy Jackson will serve as the Cinderella alternate. Casting is by Tara Rubin Casting

The musical reimagines the classic fairytale to center around a damsel—but this one is not in distress. "I'm not your Cinderella. I'm Bad Cinderella," teased Genao at a press event announcing the production last year.
