News Off-Broadway Star to Reprise Performance in Paris Premiere of Sondheim's Passion The Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris has announced more casting for the March 2016 French premiere of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Passion.

As previously announced, Fosca will be played by French opera singer Natalie Dessay. She will be joined by Ryan Silverman (Broadway's Side Show, Cry-Baby and Raoul in Phantom of the Opera) as Giorgio, a role he played in the 2013 Off-Broadway staging at CSC. The cast will also feature Erica Spyres as Clara. Directed by French film actress Fanny Ardant and music-directed by Andy Einhorn, the production will run March 16-24.

Also in the cast: Karl Haynes (Doctor Tambourri), Michael Kelly (Sergeant Lombardi, Cook), Nicholas Garrett (Lieutenant Barri & Fosca’s Father), Tara Venditti (Fosca’s Mother) and Kimy McLaren (Mistress).

Winner of the 1994 Tony Award as Best Musical, Passion tells the story of a bright but sickly woman who conceives a passion for a handsome young soldier. Her attentions lead him to rethink the nature of love. It is adapted form the film "Passione d'Amore."

Over the last five years, Sondheim musicals have been prominently featured at the Châtelet with A Little Night Music (2010), Sweeney Todd (2012), Sunday In The Park With George (2013) and Into The Woods (2014), all of which have been directed by Lee Blakeley.

The Châtelet specializes in American musicals performed in English with French subtitles. The current Broadway production of An American in Paris originated there.
