Benefits and Galas Norm Lewis and Joshua Henry Will Headline Broadway Advocacy Coalition's 2022 Broadway VS

Amber Iman will host the event, featuring the two Tony nominees performing songs from their stage careers.

Broadway Advocacy Coalition's second annual Broadway VS will celebrate stage veterans Norm Lewis and Joshua Henry. The fundraiser will be live streamed from New World Stages June 20 at 7:30 PM.

The evening, hosted by Amber Iman, will feature a conversation between the two Tony nominees and songs from their stage careers, including music from Once on This Island, Carousel, and The Little Mermaid. Coinciding with Juneteenth, the event will serve as a space for Black Broadway to celebrate the work of Black artists.

"This year Broadway VS is honoring two Black men who have inspired and influenced the theater community for years,” said Director of Industry Initiatives Zhailon Levingston. “In that spirit, we want to use this event to intentionally bring together and lift up so many other Black men—too rarely given their own space to be celebrated—to honor our historic and invaluable presence onstage, but also backstage, front of house, in school and across all theatrical departments while continuing to push the need for broader celebration of all marginalized communities."

Lewis' stage credits include Chicken and BiscuitsThe Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, Once on This Island, and the title character in the Off-Broadway production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the Barrow Street Theatre. In 2014, he made history as the first African American Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. Lewis recently starred in Spike Lee's Da 5 Bloods and FX's Pose. Other screen credits include Women of The Movement (also starring Adrienne Warren), Apple TV's animated series Central Park, and NBC's Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert!, alongside John Legend, Tony nominee Sara Bareilles, and Alice Cooper.

Henry is currently in Apple TV's See and previous starred in Lin-Manuel Miranda's Netflix adaptation of Tick, Tick...BOOM!. His stage credits include Violet, Carousel, WaitressOff-Broadway's The Wrong Man at MCC Theatre, Hamilton in Los Angeles, and he will soon be seen in the Broadway transfer of New York City Center's Into the Woods
