Following productions of Chess, Carousel, Sunset Boulevard, and Sweeney Todd, the English National Opera will present a limited engagement of Man of La Mancha April 26–June 8 at the London Coliseum.
As previously reported, Emmy winner and Tony nominee Kelsey Grammer, most recently on Broadway in Finding Neverland, will take the stage as Miguel de Cervantes and Don Quixote with opera star Danielle de Niese as Aldonza and Dulcinea; the latter will share the role with the newly announced Cassidy Janson.
Janson appeared in Chess at the London Coliseum and in the title role of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical in the West End.
Also joining the cast is BAFTA Award-winning actor Nicholas Lyndhurst. Lyndhurst, who will play the Innkeeper and the Captain, is best known for his TV work in Only Fools and Horses, Goodnight Sweetheart, and New Tricks. His previous stage credits include the Grade/Linnit production of Carousel at The Coliseum and Trevor Nunn’s The Tempest at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
Lonny Price will direct, and the performers will be backed by ENO’s 35-piece orchestra. The creative team also includes conductor David White, set designer James Noone, lighting designer Rick Fisher, sound designer Mick Potter, and casting director David Grindrod CDG.
