Stanley Houghton’s 1912 comedy Hindle Wakes will have its first New York City revival in 95 years in a production from Mint Theater Company. Performances will begin December 23 at the Clurman Theater at Theatre Row.

In Hindle Wakes, a mill owner’s son and a young woman have a few days of fun in a hotel before they're discovered by their parents. When the play premiered in London in 1912, it was considered controversial, but was praised for its depiction of two young people seeking pleasure before marriage. The show also raised questions of ethics, class, and custom.

The comedy was last revived in London in 2012, but has not been seen in New York since 1922.

The Mint Theater Company revival is set to officially open January 18, 2018, for an engagement through February 17. Gus Kaikkonen directs a cast made up of Jeremy Beck, Rebecca Noelle Brinkley, Emma Geer, Jonathan Hogan, Sara Carolynn Kennedy, Ken Marks, Brian Reddy, Sandra Shipley, and Jill Tanner.

Hindle Wakes will have scenic design by Charles Morgan, costume design by Sam Fleming, lighting design by Xavier Pierce, and sound design and original music by Jane Shaw. Casting is by Stephanie Klapper, CSA.
