Former Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton will star as Rachel Marron in the upcoming U.K. and Ireland tour of The Bodyguard, which will launch at Glasgow King’s Theatre January 28, 2023.

Grammy nominee Thornton previously played the role during The Bodyguard's six-month tour of China. Additional casting will be announced.

The tour will subsequently play Sunderland Empire, Edinburgh Playhouse, Stoke Regent Theatre, New Wimbledon Theatre, Liverpool Empire, Dartford Orchard Theatre, Manchester Palace Theatre, Leicester Curve Theatre, Cardiff Wales Millennium Centre, Aberdeen His Majesty’s Theatre, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre, Bromley Churchill Theatre, Southend Cliffs Pavilion, Milton Keynes Theatre, Leeds Grand Theatre, Llandudno Venue Cymru, Plymouth Theatre Royal, and Bristol Hippodrome, with additional venues to be announced.

Based on Lawrence Kasdan’s 1992 Oscar-nominated Warner Bros. film, the musical features direction by Thea Sharrock with a book by Oscar winner Alex Dinelaris. The Bodyguard had its world premiere at London's Adelphi Theatre in 2012, starring Tony winner Heather Headley, followed by an 18-month U.K. and Ireland tour.

The jukebox musical features a variety of Whitney Houston's chart-topping singles, including "One Moment in Time," "I Have Nothing," "I Wanna Dance with Somebody," and "I Will Always Love You." Kevin Costner and the late Houston starred in the film.
