The Drama League has revealed 19 artists selected to participate in its 2024 Directors Project after a record-breaking year of 1,800 applications. The chosen directors will work with a number of programs in the next year to hone their craft and further their place in the industry.

This year's participants will be Zoë Adams, Arin Arbus, Britt Berke, Rosalind Bevan, Desdemona Chiang, Jaime Castaneda, Emma Denson, Stefan Dezil, Morgan Green, Devin E. Haqq, Sarah Hughes, Karl Michael Iglesias, Lauren Keating, Irvin Mason, Jr., Jess McLeod, Martavius Parrish, Danny Sharron, Colm Summers, and Dina Vovsi.

Adams and Mason, Jr. were selected for Drama League Stage Directing Fellowships, which include a $100,000 cash award and other benefits in addition to professional directing experience with Manhattan Theatre Club, Playwright's Center, Keen Company, Berkeley Rep, New York Stage and Film, and Red Bull Theater.

Berke, Dezil, and Iglesias will participate in the FutureNow Directing Fellowships, a program that immerses fellows with directing, cabaret, and assisting assignments at Chautauqua Theater Company in the summer, and directing assignments with TheatreWorks USA in the fall.

Denson is the inaugural recipient of the Rose Directing Fellowship, a program offered in partnership with London's Rose Theatre. Denson will assist Artistic Director Christopher Haydon on the world premiere of Suzanne Heathcote's Never Let Me Go, adapted from Kazuo Ishiguro's novel. Denson will additionally helm a production for the company's Youth Theatre.

Green, Keating, McLeod, and Sharron were chosen for the Television and Film Directing Fellowships, allowing them the opportunity to shadow on episodes of major series. All four will also be mentored by Tony Phelan (Grey's Anatomy).

Bevan, Haqq, Iglesias, and Parrish were selected for the Irene Gandy Stage Directing Assistantships, with pairs early-career directors from marginalized communities with established directors. This year's group will work, respectively, with Valerie Curtis-Newton, Timothy Douglas, Candis C. Jones, and Rebecca Martínez at The Public Theater, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Seattle Rep, and other companies. The appointment makes Iglesias the first director in Drama League history to receive two Directors Project fellowships in the same year.

Summers will develop his new play Falls as this year's Next Stage Director in Residence, alongside Beatrice Terry Director in Residence Hughes, who is developing her piece Untitled Dad's Email Project. Both will begin with a developmental week at New York Stage and Film this summer, with a second workshop following at The Drama League Theater Center.

Receiving support from the Drama League Film Fund will be Arbus, Castaneda, and Chiang.
