Charlie Barnett's The Last Days of Cleopatra will receive an industry presentation at Theatre Row December 14. The musical comedy centers on the scandalous affair between costars Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor following the filming of the 1963 Cleopatra.
With a book, music and lyrics by composer and playwright Barnett, the production will be directed by Tom Caruso, and music directed by Matthew Smedal.
The presentation will star Matt Bogart (Paradise Square) as Richard Burton, Shereen Ahmed (My Fair Lady) as Elizabeth Taylor, Nikita Burshteyn as Eddie Fisher, Lauren Zakrin as Bianca D'Ambrosio, Jed Resnick as Joseph Mankiewicz, De’Lon Grant as Rex Harrison, George Abud as Fred E. Smith, Milo Alosi as Giuseppe, Fred Berman as Paulo, and Dee Roscioli as Sybil Burton. They will be joined by Kaleigh Cronin, Ben Lurye, Sheridan Mirador, Jenna Lea Rosen, Teddy Trice, and Zuri Washington.
The Last Days of Cleopatra is executive produced by Dan Markley. Foresight Theatrical's Mark Shacket provides general management.
