The five-time Tony-nominated play Hangmen concludes it limited engagement on Broadway June 18. The dark comedy by Martin McDonagh played 13 preview performances in March 2020 before theatres shuttered for the pandemic. It returned to Broadway at the Golden Theatre April 8, 2022, and officially opened April 21.

The cast was led by Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones), in his Broadway debut, and Tony nominee David Threlfall (Nicholas Nickleby, Shameless), back on Broadway after a 25-year absence. Both were Tony-nominated for their performances.

The story centers on Harry (Threlfall), a hangman who finds himself unemployed on the day that hanging is abolished. Set in a small pub in Northern England in the 1960s, regulars gather to hear Harry's reaction to the news when a mysterious stranger from London, Mooney (Allen), enters their world.

The company also featured two-time Olivier winner and Tony nominee Tracie Bennett (End of the Rainbow, Follies), Owen Campbell, Jeremy Crutchley, Olivier Bursary Award winner Gaby French, Josh Goulding, John Hodgkinson, Richard Hollis, John Horton, and Ryan Pope, with Sebastian Beacon, Peter Bradbury, Gina Costigan, Katie Fabel, Colin McPhillamy, and Andy Nyman.

Directed by Matthew Dunster, the Royal Court Theatre/Atlantic Theater Company production made its world premiere at London's Royal Court Theatre in 2015, before its 2018 sold-out Off-Broadway run. In addition to the show's two performance nominations, the production was also Tony-nominated for Best Play, Best Scenic Design, and Best Lighting Design.

Hangmen features set and costume design by Olivier winner Anna Fleischle, with lighting design by Joshua Carr and sound design by Olivier Award winner Ian Dickinson. Casting is by Amy Ball and The Telsey Office's Adam Caldwell.

Robert Fox, Jean Doumanian, and Craig Balsam produce.
