The current London revival of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II's The King and I, starring Tony winner Kelli O'Hara and Ken Watanabe, has been filmed for a forthcoming release in movie theatres around the world via Trafalgar Releasing.
O'Hara and Watanabe head the cast as Anna Leonowens and the King of Siam, respectively, reprising their performances from the 2015 Bartlett Sher-helmed revival at Lincoln Center Theater.
The King and I: From the Palladium will open in cinemas globally November 29 with an encore presentation exclusively in the U.S. December 4.

The filmed cast of the Lincoln Center Theater production also includes Tony winner Ruthie Ann Miles, who recently returned to the role of Lady Thiang after suffering the devastating loss of her daughter and unborn child following a Brooklyn car crash, Dean John-Wilson as Lun Tha, Na-Young Jeon as Tuptim, and Takao Osawa as Kralahome.

Tony-winning director Sher and members of the Broadway creative team remounted the expansive production for London audiences. The revival first opened at Lincoln Center Theater's Vivian Beaumont April 16, 2015, going on to win Tonys for Best Revival of a Musical, O'Hara and Miles' performances, and costume designer Catherine Zuber.
Director Sher said in a statement, “The response from the theatre audiences on Broadway, throughout America on tour and now in London at the Palladium has been phenomenal. They have really taken this show into their hearts. I’m delighted that the worldwide cinema release will now give a greater number of people the opportunity to enjoy this production of which we are all so proud.”
