Singer-actor Liz Callaway will perform at the May 8 Spring Gala of Off-Broadway’s The Actors Company Theatre (TACT) to salute this year’s honorees: Tony-winning actor Alice Ripley, playwright Theresa Rebeck, and producers Elizabeth I.McCann and Nelle Nugent.
Featuring cocktails, dinner, a live auction, and entertainment, the event will take place May 8 at 6:30 PM at The University Club, 1 West 54th Street in New York City.
Callaway (Miss Saigon, Baby, Sibling Revelry) will help celebrate Ripley (Next to Normal, Side Show), Rebeck (Smash, Seminar, Dead Accounts), and McCann & Nugent, the Tony-winning producers of Amadeus, Morning’s at Seven, The Elephant Man, The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby, and Dracula. McCann also produced the Tony Awards ceremony 2001–2008.
Scott Alan Evans, executive artistic director of TACT, said, “Through their hard work, dedication, determination and unique talents, each of these women has made important, enduring contributions to our field while rising to the top of their professions. With tremendous admiration and praise, we thank them for all they have done to touch our hearts as well as those of countless theatergoers.”
Tickets for the call can be ordered by clicking here or by calling (212) 645-8228.
Callaway will perform a program of songs yet to be announced. Ripley will not perform. However, Ripley’s fans can hear and see her at the following planned appearances in the coming weeks:
May 7: She will perform with Lesli Margherita, Nick Adams, and The Skivvies at Feinstein’s/54 Below in Manhattan.
June 3: She will do a club show with Jess Means at the Alcazar Theatre in San Francisco.
The week of July 12–17 she will teach “Ripley's Sustainable Mechanics: Rudiments” as part of Jodie Langel’s Making It On Broadway masterclasses in New York City.
On October 20 she will appear in Unattached, her duo club show with her Side Show co-star Emily Skinner, at the Indianapolis Columbia Club in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Both Ripley and Callaway have come aboard as special guest performers on several of Playbill’s Broadway on the High Seas cruises. Playbill’s inaugural river cruise along the Rhône River in May 2017 is sold out, but cabins are available for the Rhine River cruise in August 2017, featuring Seth Rudetsky, Andréa Burns, Faith Prince, Terrence Mann, Charlotte d’Amboise, and Santino Fontana. Playbill Travel is now also booking Broadway on the Danube River for November 2017, with celebrity guests to be announced. Visit PlaybillTravel.com for booking and information.
Surrounded by period-accurate, 19th-century holiday decorations lit via candlelight, the 70-minute production is based on Dickens' own script of the classic.
