The Broadway-bound new musical Almost Famous has released a single from its upcoming original cast recording. "The Night-Time Sky's Got Nothing on You" is performed by the show's leads Chris Wood as Russell Hammond and Solea Pfeiffer as Penny Lane.
Almost Famous is based on the 2000 film by Cameron Crowe. Set in 1973, the story follows a 15-year-old aspiring music journalist who Rolling Stone hires to go on tour with an up-and-coming rock band. The new musical features a book and lyrics by Crowe and music and lyrics by Tom Kitt. Listen to the single below.
The show will begin previews October 3 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, with an opening night set for November 3. Tony and Olivier nominee Jeremy Herrin directs, with choreography by Sarah O’Gleby.
The cast also stars newcomer Casey Likes, Tony nominee Anika Larsen, Drew Gehling, and Rob Colletti. The company will also include Matt Bittner, Chad Burris, Gerard Canonico, Julia Cassandra, Brandon Contreras, Jakeim Hart, Van Hughes, Jana Djenne Jackson, Katie Ladner, Danny Lindgren, Erica Mansfield, Alisa Melendez, Kevin Perdido, Andrew Poston, Emily Schultheis, Daniel Sovich, Libby Winters, and Matthew C. Yee.
The cast recording is produced by Scott Riesett and Tom Kitt, the song was recorded at Sear Sound, New York City and Igloo Music, Burbank. "The Night-Time Sky's Got Nothing on You" is the second single from the album, following the previous release of “Everybody’s Coming Together.”
