Roundabout Theatre Company's upcoming Off-Broadway production of The Wanderers, starring film and TV star Katie Holmes, has extended its run by a week even before starting performances. Previews begin January 26 at Roundabout's Laura Pels Theatre, and performances will now continue through April 2. Opening night is February 16.
In The Wanderers, Orthodox Jews Esther and Schmuli are newly married. Secular Jew Abe is a famous novelist who believes he can write his own future until an unexpected email from a movie star, Julia Cheever, puts his marriage to the test.
The cast includes Holmes, in her Roundabout debut, as Julia Cheever, Sarah Cooper as Sophie, Lucy Freyer as Esther, Dave Klasko as Schmuli, and Eddie Kaye Thomas as Abe.
The upcoming production will have sets by Marion Williams, costumes by David Israel Reynoso, lighting by Kenneth Posner, and sound and original music by Jane Shaw. Barry Edelstein directs.
