Songbird is written by Michael Kimmel with music and lyrics by Lauren Pritchard. Directed by JV Mercanti, the limited engagement will continue through Nov. 29.
The complete cast, announced Aug. 18, also includes Kacie Sheik, Andy Taylor, Ephie Aardema and Adam Cochran. Baldwin replaces the previously announced Amy Spanger.
Songbird is billed as "a Tennessee fiction based on Anton Chekhov's The Seagull,...a striking new show about a fading country star returning home to Nashville. After many years away, Tammy returns to the Honky Tonk that launched her music career to help the son she abandoned launch his own. But with jealousy and self destruction (along with copious amounts of whiskey) fueling this homecoming, will Tammy’s arrival do more harm than good?"
The Off-Broadway run is produced by Allison Bressi and Diana Buckhantz by special association with Less Than Rent Theatre.
