News Karen Ziemba, Emily Skinner and Patrick Cassidy Share A Little Night Music, Opening Tonight The American Conservatory Theater's production of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s A Little Night Music officially opens on the Geary stage May 27 at 8 PM following previews that began May 20.

Directed by two-time Tony Award nominee Mark Lamos, performances were recently extended by a week through June 21.

The cast is headed by Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba as Desiree Armfeldt, Tony Award nominee Emily Skinner as Charlotte, Patrick Cassidy as Federick Egerman, Tony Award nominee Dana Ivey as Madame Armfeldt, Paolo Montalban as Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm, Justin Scott Brown as Henrick Egerman, Marissa McGowan as Petra and Laurie Veldheer as Anne.

The company is rounded out by Bay Area performers Christine Capsuto as Mrs. Nordstrom, Brandon Dahlquist as Mr. Lindquist, Michael McIntire as Frid, Brigid O’Brien as Fredrika, Annemaria Rajala as Mrs. Andersen, Andres Ramirez as Mr. Erianen and Caitlan Taylor as Mrs. Segstrom.

A Little Night Music, according to press notes, "presents a beguiling and bittersweet tale of lost love, scandalous liaisons, and youthful passions that intertwine over a midsummer’s eve at a country home in 1900s Sweden."

The limited engagement also has set design by Riccardo Hernandez, lighting design by Robert Wiertzel, costume design by Candice Donnelly, sound design by Kevin Kennedy, choreography by Val Caniparoli and music direction by Wayne Barker.
