Manhattan Theatre Club's annual Spring Gala is held May 22 at Cipriani 42nd Street in NYC. The evening honors Artistic Director Lynne Meadow as she celebrates her 50th anniversary with the company and outgoing Executive Producer Barry Grove, who will leave the theatre following a 48-year tenure at the end of this season.
The evening's entertainment includes performances from Broadway's & Juliet; A Beautiful Noise; Kimberly Akimbo; New York, New York; Shucked; Some Like It Hot; and Sweeney Todd. Jason Michael Webb serves as music director, with lighting design by Joel Shier, sound design by Leon Rothenberg, and stage management by James FitzSimmons and Jereme Kyle Lewis.
The evening begins with cocktails at 7 PM, followed by dinner and the gala performance. Individual tickets are available for $2,500-$5,000, and tables of 10 are available for $25,000-$50,000 at ManhattanTheatreClub.com.
Gala co-chairs include Marie T. Gallagher, Daniel M. Healy, David C. Hodgson, Christopher G. Lanning, Thomas F. Secunda, and Peter J. Solomon.
Manhattan Theatre Club is currently presenting David Auburn's Summer, 1976 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on Broadway through June 18. Off-Broadway, MTC is presenting King James, by Rajiv Joseph and directed by Kenny Leon, direct from Steppenwolf Theatre Company and Center Theatre Group. The production plays New York City Center Stage I, also through June 18.
