"After two years of following Patrick [Groff] and his tight-knit group of friends as they explored San Francisco in search of love and lasting relationships, HBO will present the final chapter of their journey as a special," HBO said in a statement. "We look forward to sharing this adventure with the shows' loyal fans."

As previously reported, the second season premiere of "Looking," which was broadcast Jan. 11, was watched by only 183,000 viewers. That number was a 45 percent decrease from the show's 2014 debut.

Created by Michael Lannan and executive-produced by Andrew Haigh and Sarah Condon, the half-hour series also starred Russell Tovey, Frankie J. Alvarez, Murray Bartlett, Raul Castillo, Scott Bakula, O.T. Fagbenle, Lauren Weedman and Ptolemy Slocum.

Groff is back in the New York theatre scene, currently starring in Lin-Manuel Miranda's Off-Broadway production of Hamilton, which is slated to transfer to Broadway this summer. He will also star in A New Brain this summer, as part of New York City Center's Encores! Off-Center series.
