News Jonathan Cake Joins Zach Gilford and Jennifer Carpenter in New USA Drama Jonathan Cake, who has appeared on Broadway in the classic dramas Medea and Cymbeline, will appear in the new USA drama "Stanistan," according to Deadline.com.

The pilot for the show will also feature Zach Gilford and Jennifer Carpenter.

"Stanistan" follows the staff at the American compound in the Middle Eastern country of Stanistan, where State Department workers, covert CIA officers and journalists are located.

Gilford will play Phillip Guthrey, an Infrastructure Deputy Manager for USAID, and Cake will play Greg Weir, an on-air foreign correspondent. Gilford's character is a close friend of Marcie, played by Carpenter, and Cake's character is involved in a complicated affair with her.

Cake's Broadway credits also include The Philanthropist. His screen work include "Desperate Housewives," "Brideshead Revisited" and "Doll & Em."

Gilford has appeared in "Friday Night Lights," "The Mob Doctor" and "The Purge: Anarchy." Carpenter's screen credits include "Dexter," "The Good Wife" and "The Devil's Hand."
