Tony winner John Lloyd Young returns to the Café Carlyle May 14.
The Jersey Boys Tony winner, who has played the Manhattan venue for over a decade, is offering concerts through May 18. Young is set to perform rock ‘n’ roll, doo-wop, and R&B tunes, including songs from his debut album, My Turn. Steve Marzullo is the musical director.
Audiences can expect to hear such classics as “Sherry,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You,” “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me,” and “Unchained Melody,” as well as other songs originally introduced by Little Anthony and the Imperials, The Platters, Smokey Robinson, and Roy Orbison.
Young said in an earlier statement, “I’m a sucker for classics. There are only a few places in New York that have retained their elegant, old-world charm throughout the decades. The Café Carlyle is one of them. I’m in love with that timeless room and the timeless songs I sing there.”
Young, who also recently announced a London concert engagement, preserved his Broadway work in Clint Eastwood’s Jersey Boys film adaptation for Warner Bros. Pictures.
Café Carlyle is located in The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel, at 35 East 76th Street. For reservations click here.
