Tony Award winner Jessie Mueller, who brought new life to the songs of Carole King in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, will have a chance to do the same for jazz goddess Ella Fitzgerald in Ella On My Mind in the Appel Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York.
Hosted by Michael Feinstein, the June 7 tribute to the late singer will get three performances, 7 PM June 7 and 7 and 9 PM June 8.
Mueller won the 2014 Tony Award as Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in Beautiful, played her final performance in Broadway’s Waitress March 26, and was recently announced to star in a 2018 Broadway revival of Carousel. She and Feinstein will perform classics from the Great American Songbook by Irving Berlin, the Gershwins, and other composers that were recorded by Fitzgerald during her six-decade career.
Mueller and Feinstein will be joined at the concert by jazz singers Nicole Henry and Vuyo Sotashe, and accompanied by the Tedd Firth Big Band.
