A free reading of The Pretty Pants Bandit, penned by Chase Peacock and Jessica De Maria, will be presented November 17 at 2 PM at Ripley Grier Studios in Manhattan.

The 30-minute teaser concert of the new musical will feature Jelani Remy (The Lion King), Elena Ricardo (Mamma Mia!), Xavier Reyes (Kinky Boots national tour), Brian Charles Johnson (American Idiot), and Quentin Avery Brown — with Sophie Amelkin, Carla Mongado, Teddy Grey, Maggie Salley, Nina Jayashankar, and Jacob Locchaim.

The new musical, set against the economic and racial disparity of 1930s Miami, concerns housewife Marie Baker. She decides to break bad, creating a gang and leaving the men she robs with their pants down.

The reading will also have music direction by Gillian Berkowitz, with Mika Cowher featured on percussion.

Based on true events, The Pretty Pants Bandit made its world premiere in Atlanta March 2022.

Peacock and De Maria's first original work, What’s Past, was featured in the inaugural Atlanta Musical Theatre Festival. Their second, Vivian: A Ghost Story, premiered at the Atlanta Lyric Theatre's Studio in the Square in October 2017 and is currently being developed into a serial podcast.
