A filmed capture of A Christmas Carol, starring Tony winner Jefferson Mays as over 50 characters, is now available to purchase on demand via Dark Star Pictures. Titled Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, it is now available to view on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and other digital platforms.
The stage version was co-adapted by Michael Arden, Mays, and Susan Lyons, with a concept by Arden and Tony nominee Dane Laffrey. Tony winner Arden also directed the production, and Sufjan Stevens contributed music.
The proshot was captured on stage at the historic United Palace theatre in 2020, after the adaptation premiered at Los Angeles' Geffen Playhouse. The production later played an engagement at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre, running from November 2022 through January 2023.
“Jefferson Mays’ breathtaking performance and Michael Arden’s visionary direction offer a one-of-a-kind experience that perfectly captures the magic of Broadway,” Michael Repsch, President of Dark Star Pictures, said in a statement. “We’re honored to make this timeless holiday story accessible to viewers everywhere just in time for the season.”
The executive producers of the filmed version are Hunter Arnold, George Bamber, and Kayla Greenspan.
