J2 Spotlight Musical Theater Company has announced the creative teams for its 2024 season. As previously reported, the upcoming season will feature productions of Do Re Mi and Lucky Stiff, plus the company's In the Spotlight cabaret series, which celebrates the writing team of each show.
The season will kick off with Do Re Mi, with music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, and a book by Garson Kanin. The production is set to run April 19-28 at the AMT Theatre. J2 Spotlight Artistic Director Robert W. Schneider will direct, with musical direction by Miles Plant and choreography by Andrew Winans.
The creative team will also include set designer Matthew Imhoff, lighting designer Daniel Huston, costume designer Emily Geldermann, dramaturg Frederick Miller, and production stage manager Joey Paradise. Casting is by Holly Buczek of Wojcik Casting.
Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty's Lucky Stiff will run May 3-12 at the AMT Theatre. The musical will also be directed by Schneider and music directed by Plant, with choreography by Gerry McIntyre.
The Lucky Stiff creative team also includes Imhoff, Huston, Miller, Paradise, and Buczek, with costume design by Thomas Gluodenis.
This year's In the Spotlight cabaret series will be directed by Charles Kirsch, with musical direction by Michael Lavine. The pair will first present Make Someone Happy: The Songs of Comden, Green, and Styne April 23, followed by Back to Before: The Songs of Ahrens and Flaherty May 7.
Casting for the season has not yet been announced.
