Off-Broadway News Irish Rep Announces In-Person and Digital Programming for 2022 The Off-Broadway theatre company will present A Touch of the Poet, Made By God, and more.

Irish Repertory Theatre has announced two productions, two one-night-only performances, and one streaming event for its upcoming winter 2022 season.

First up is the world premiere of Ciara Ní Chuírc’s Made by God (February 11-March 20), directed by Olivia Songer, which will run on the W. Scott McLucas Studio Stage, with an opening night set for February 17. The play follows a present-day podcaster who travels to Ireland to learn more about a woman who was found dead in 1984 alongside her newborn baby. The work was part of Origin Theatre Company’s Fall 2021 New Works Reading Series. Made by God will feature Ciaran Byrne, McKenna Quigley Harrington, Erica Henandez, Daniel Marconi, and Brianna Gibson Reeves.

After a pause due to the shutdown and a digital production in summer 2020, Irish Rep will present Eugene O’Neill’s A Touch of the Poet (February 26-April 17), directed by Ciarán O’Reilly, on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage, with an opening night set for March 8. The cast will include Belle Aykroyd, Robert Cuccioli, Kate Forbes, Mary McCann, Andy Murray, James Russell, David Sitler, and John C. Vennema. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

Prior to the in-person productions is a streaming presentation of A Girl is A Half-formed Thing (January 14-30) by Eimear McBride, adapted by Annie Ryan, directed by Nicola Murphy, and starring Jenn Murray. The work will stream on demand on Irish Rep @ Home as part of the Origin First Irish Theatre Festival. Also part of the festival will be a one-night-only performance of Transatlantic Living (January 18), written and performed by Clare O’Malley. Irish Rep will also present a one-night-only performance of Love Songs for the Hopeless Romantic (January 25) by violinist Gregory Harrington.

Currently playing on the Greenburger Mainstage is The Streets of New York by Dion Boucicault, featuring adaptation, songs, and direction by Charlotte Moore. The production is set to conclude January 30.

In-person ticket holders must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, while attendees under the age of five and any other individuals who have not been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the time of entry will not be allowed into the theatre. Irish Rep will constantly monitor the rules and update as necessary as guidelines from health and safety officials continue to change. For more information about reopening, click here.
