Indira Varma will star as surgeon Vashti in a play set in a busy London hospital. The cast will also include Ruth Everett, Souad Faress, Jenny Galloway, Nick Hendrix, Maxwell Hutcheon, Tricia Kelly, Alastair MacKenzie, Wunmi Mosaku, Shaun Parkes and Luke Thompson.
Commissioned by the theatre and directed by the playwright herself, who has also directed William Boyd's Longing for Hampstead Theatre, the production has lighting by Neil Austin, sound by Fergus O'Hare, video by Dick Straker and choreography by Leon Baugh.
According to press materials, "professionalism and prejudice, turbulent staff romances, ambition and failure collide in drama about an overburdened service that we all depend on and the dedicated individuals that keep it going."
Varma is best known for her roles in "Game of Thrones," "Rome," "The Canterbury Tales" and "Luther." Stage appearances include Titus Andronicus (Shakespeare’s Globe), The Hothouse (Trafalgar Studios) and Dance of Death and Twelfth Night (Donmar Warehouse).
