Hundreds of Ventriloquist Dummies Are Up for Auction | Playbill

News Hundreds of Ventriloquist Dummies Are Up for Auction Almost 250 ventriloquist dummies will be up for auction in Seabrook, NH. The figures will be auctioned in two groups, the first Sept. 27 and the second in October.

The collection, which has been gathered over the course of the past 30 years by Dan Willinger, is expected to earn between $400,000 and $500,000.

Broadway is no stranger to ventriloquist dummies. In 2006 Jay Johnson ("Soap") brought The Two and Only! to the stage with help from his dummy Bob. The performance earned Johnson a 2007 Tony Award for Best Special Theatrical Event. This award made him the first and only ventriloquist to ever win, or be nominated for, a Tony Award.
