MCC Theater's world premiere of Only Gold officially opened Off-Broadway November 7 with a starry celebration. Get an inside look at the festivities below. The new musical, with a score by British singer-songwriter Kate Nash and a book by Andy Blankenbuehler and Ted Malawer, runs through November 27.
Directed and choreographed by Blankenbuehler, Only Gold centers on a princess, a queen, and a clockmaker's wife who rebel against tradition while the men in their lives chase the dreams of their youth, set against the backdrop of the allure of 1928 Paris.
Nash (Netflix's GLOW) stars in the production as the Narrator, accompanying the show with her own pop hits, including "Foundations" and "Nicest Thing." The dance-heavy production also features So You Think You Can Dance winner Gaby Diaz (West Side Story film), Ryan Steele (Newsies, Carousel), Tony nominees Terrence Mann (Pippin) and Karine Plantadit (Come Fly Away), Hannah Cruz (Suffs), and Ryan VanDenBoom (MJ).
In FastHorse's play, a collision of friends and foes within the nonprofit sector spirals into a whirlwind of competition, chaos, and comedic revelation.
From Josephine Baker to the Chitlin’ Circuit, the new Broadway revival explores the lives of early 20th century Black performers, without changing a word.
