The production of the Conor McPherson-Bob Dylan musical will subsequently tour the U.K.

Conor McPherson and Bob Dylan's Girl From the North Country, written and directed by McPherson (The Weir, The Seafarer) with music and lyrics by Dylan, embarks on its first U.K. tour following a five-week season at 3Olympia Theatre Dublin beginning June 25.

The production will subsequently tour to Canterbury, Southampton, York, Glasgow, Salford Quays, Newcastle, Bath, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Cheltenham, Plymouth, Milton Keynes, Woking, Bradford, Cardiff, Liverpool, Sheffield, Bristol, Birmingham, Belfast, Aberdeen, Norwich, Belfast, Leicester, and Wimbledon.

The cast includes Keisha Amponsa Banson as Mrs. Neilsen, Ross Carswell as Elias Burke, Colin Connor as Nick Laine, Joshua C. Jackson as Joe Scott, Eli James as Reverend Marlowe, Justina Kehinde as Marianne, Teddy Kempner as Mr. Perry, Chris McHallem as Dr. Walker, Frances McNamee as Elizabeth Laine, Gregor Milne as Gene Laine, Eve Norris as Katherine Draper, James Staddon as Mr. Burke, and Rebecca Thornhill as Mrs. Burke with ensemble members Frankie Hart, Graham Kent, Owen Lloyd, Nichola MacEvilly, Daniel Reid-Walters, and Neil Stewart.

Girl From the North Country features scenic and costume design by Rae Smith; orchestrations, arrangements, and music supervision by Simon Hale, with additional arrangements by Hale and McPherson; lighting design by Mark Henderson; sound design by Simon Baker; movement direction by Lucy Hind; and casting by Jessica Ronane.

McPherson said of the Dublin and U.K. tour cast, “It’s a joy to be working with our supremely talented new cast. Each of them brings a terrific range of experience and energy to the show. It’s an absolute delight to embark on this new adventure together.”

Girl From the North Country first opened at The Old Vic in July 2017, transferring to the Noël Coward Theatre in December 2017 and winning 2018 Olivier Awards for Best Actress in a Musical and Best Supporting Actress in a Musical. The production went on to have a sold-out run at the Public Theater in 2018. Following a run at Toronto's Royal Alexandra in autumn 2019, the production had a second run in the West End, opening December 2019 at the Gielgud.

Girl From the North Country, which reopened at Broadway's Belasco Theatre April 29, ended its extended limited engagement June 19. (Originally scheduled for 50 performances through June 11, the Tony-nominated musical added an additional week to its run.)

Girl From the North Country received seven 2022 Tony nominations, including Best New Musical, Best Book of a Musical (McPherson), Best Orchestrations (Simon Hale), Best Sound Design of a Musical (Simon Baker), Best Direction of a Musical (McPherson), Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical (Mare Winningham), and Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical (Jeannette Bayardelle). Hale won the Tony for his orchestrations.

A North American tour of the show will commence in Minneapolis in 2023.
