Get a first glimpse at the new production of Monty Python's Spamalot at Washington, D.C.'s Kennedy Center. Directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes, the production begins performances the venue's Eisenhower Theater May 12 for a run through May 21. See the newly released production photos below.
The musical, which premiered on Broadway in 2005, features music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle and a book and lyrics by Idle. Adapted from the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the musical follows King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table on their quest for the Holy Grail, complete with coconut-shell horse hooves, shrubbery, the Knights Who Say "Ni!," and more. The original Broadway production won three Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
Rhodes' creative team includes, music director John Bell (Into the Woods), scenic and projection designer Paul Tate dePoo III, costume designer Jen Caprio, lighting designer Cory Pattak, sound designer Haley Parcher, and hair and wig designer Tom Watson. Casting is by JZ Casting.
Next year, Carnegie Hall's house band will perform Bernstein’s “Kaddish” Symphony, unfinished works by Schubert, and the final concert of Conductor Bernard Labadie.
