Marcovicci's acclaimed show, which is entitled A Gershwin Valentine, is presented Feb. 14 at 8 PM at the West Hollywood venue. Her musical director is Shelly Markham with Nate Light on bass.
"I can hardly believe, in all these years with all the shows that I've created, and all the Gershwin that I've sung, that I've never done a Gershwin evening!" Marcovicci stated when the show premiered last year. "I'm thrilled to share these great songs… I've always wanted to sing 'Boy Wanted' because it's a very early Gertrude Lawrence number from 1921. Plus, I've discovered some of the earliest material, like 'I Was So Young and You Were So Beautiful' from 1919, and I've fallen in love with the funny little chestnut, 'Blah, Blah, Blah.'"
Songs also include "Embraceable You," "He Loves and She Loves," "I've Got A Crush On You," "Isn't It a Pity," "Let's Call The Whole Thing Off," "Someone To Watch Over Me," "S'Wonderful" and "The Man I Love."
"A departure from her usual songbook series," A Gershwin Valentine, press notes state, "focuses on the delight of romance found within the music of George Gershwin, the lyrics of his brother, Ira, the passionate rhythm of Edna St. Vincent Millay and other poets, and the warmth of a lover's eyes on the day we celebrate love."
Andrea Marcovicci starred on Broadway in the short-lived musical Ambassador and in Frank D. Gilroy's Any Given Day. Her screen credits include roles in "The Front," "Someone to Love," "Jack the Bear," "Who Is Henry Jaglom?," "The Water Engine" and "Trapper John, M.D." It has been the cabaret stage, however, where she has received the most acclaim. The singer-actress has performed at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and in concert halls throughout the world. Her solo albums are numerous and include "Smile," "Marcovicci Loves Movies," "What Is Love?," "Just Kern," "December Songs," "New Words," "Live from London" and "Some Other Time."
