Direct from its run at Los Angeles’ The Moth, Angelica Page’s monologue play Turning Page makes its New York debut at Dixon Place beginning February 10. Written and performed by Page, the one-person show chronicles the life and career of her mother, Oscar winner Geraldine Page, with direction by Tony winner Wilson Milam.
Turning Page will officially open February 24 and is scheduled to play through April 8.
The show offers a personal and intimate look at the life of the legendary stage and screen actor, who garnered eight Academy Award nominations and four Tony nods. Geraldine Page was seen on the Broadway stage numerous times throughout the 1950s–80s. Her stage credits included Agnes of God, Absurd Person Singular, and Blithe Spirit—her last appearance on Broadway in 1987 before her death that same year.
Angelica Page spent years avoiding bringing her mother's story to the stage before setting to work on Turning Page four years ago.
“I grew up in the center of her sparkling career,” she explains in a press statement. “As her only daughter I feel compelled to share her lessons and gifts with others who did and did not have the opportunity to know her magic intimately. She was a true rebel and trail blazer. A masterful woman who was ahead of her time and should not be forgotten anytime soon.”
Angelica Page recently starred on Broadway in the Tony-nominated The Best Man. Other Broadway credits include Anna Christie, Side Man, and the national tour of August: Osage County.
