Berkeley Repertory Theatre's world premiere of Galileo: A Rock Musical, starring Tony nominee Raúl Esparza in the title role, has announced a one-week extension. Previously slated to close June 16, the production will now continue performances through June 23 at Berkeley Reps's Roda Theatre.
Galileo began performances May 5, with Tony winner Michael Mayer at the helm. The musical features a book by Emmy winner Danny Strong, music and lyrics by Michael Weiner and Zoe Sarnak, and choreography by David Neumann.
Joining Esparza in the cast are Jeremy Kushnier as Bishop Maffeo Barberini, Madalynn Mathews as Virginia Galilei, Christian Magby as Alessandro Tarantola, Javier Muñoz as Cardinal Morosini, and Bradley Dean as Bishop Grasso.
