The Disney remake of its 1991 Oscar-nominated hit boasts a galaxy of stars, many with Broadway pedigrees. The cast includes Ian McKellen (Cogsworth), Audra McDonald (Garderobe), Emma Thompson (Mrs. Potts), Josh Gad (Le Fou), Ewan McGregor (Lumiere), Kevin Kline (Maurice), Stanley Tucci (Cadenza) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Plumette).
"Downton Abbey" star Dan Stevens plays the Beast, with Luke Evans ("The Hobbit," "Dracula: Untold") as Gaston. Beauty and the Beast is scheduled to be released in 3D March 17, 2017. The film will feature original songs from the 1991 film and its subsequent Broadway adaptation that was written by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice. Menken and Rice will also write new songs.
