North Carolina Theatre is set to welcome a new artistic director in November. Eric Woodall, a longtime casting director at Tara Rubin Casting, will succeed Casey Hushion at the regional theatre, overseeing programming, conservatory training, and new works development.
Woodall, a Benson, North Carolina, native, is himself a student of NC Theatre Conservatory. With Tara Rubin Casting, he has worked on such Broadway productions as Dear Evan Hansen, The Band's Visit, The Phantom of the Opera, and Aladdin.
His directing credits include NC Theatre's Jesus Christ Superstar, Gypsy, Mary Poppins, and Billy Elliot. He has also served as resident director for the Broadway, Las Vegas, and touring companies of Mamma Mia!, which he is also set to helm at his new artistic home.
The Raleigh theatre's 2018–2019 season includes In the Heights, Mamma Mia!, Murder for Two, and Annie, as well as two national tour engagements presented in partnership with the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts: Jersey Boys and The King and I.
