Mike Lemme's play is dedicated to young mothers whose mental health is often disregarded by society.

Edinburgh Fringe favorite solo show Before The Drugs Kick In is set to make its Los Angeles premiere for four performances at The Broadwater April 18-21. After three extensions in New York, the production is currently running at TheaterLab through March 30.

Before The Drugs Kick In is written, directed, and produced by Lemme. The creative team also includes movement director and dramaturg Mandy Gordon.

Maria DeCotis stars as a woman named Lynn T. Walsh, speaking from an insane asylum, about how she felt abandoned by her family after attempting to take her own life, and how society abandons women after they're no longer deemed useful.
