Off-Broadway News Edie Falco Will Join Off-Broadway's Pre-Existing Condition

The Marin Ireland play is extending with the Nurse Jackie star added to the roster.

Off-Broadway's Pre-Existing Condition, a new play from actor-writer Marin Ireland, is getting an extension and a new star. Emmy winner Edie Falco will join the production as A beginning August 6, and performances will now continue through August 17 at the Connelly Theater. The show opened June 18—read the reviews here.

The production has been led by an alternating group of actors in the role of A throughout the run, beginning with Tatiana Maslany and later including Julia Chan, Maria Dizzia, Tavi Gevinson, and Deirdre O'Connell. The cast also features Sarah Steele, Dael Orlandersmith, and Greg Keller, with understudies Raquel Chavez and Gregory Connors rounding out the company.

The work brings audiences to the aftermath of a "life-altering event," following the process of moving forward, according to press notes.

Best known for her screen performances in series like The Sopranos and Nurse Jackie, Falco is a Tony-nominated stage actor as well, with Broadway credits including Side Man; Frankie and Johnny in the Clair De Lune; 'Night, Mother; and The House of Blue Leaves. Off-Broadway work includes This Wide NightThe MadridThe True, and Morning Sun.

The production features scenic design by Louisa Thompson, costume design by Enver Chakartash, lighting design by Isabella Byrd, and sound design by Palmer Hefferan. Ashley-Rose Galligan is production stage manager, with T.J. Kearney as assistant stage manager. Casting is by Taylor Williams, with Wagner Johnson Productions' Zachary Baer serving as general manager.

The production boasts a starry group of producers, including Jesse Eisenberg, Charlie Kaufman, OHenry Productions, The Cohn Sisters, Jessica Chase, and Taylor Williams.
