DRAG: The Musical is set to return to Hollywood's Bourbon Room due to popular demand, after making its world premiere at the California venue last year. The limited engagement will run March 15-30, 2024.
Producers have also announced the musical is eyeing an open-ended NYC run in fall 2024. Check out highlights from the 2022 premiere here, and listen to the cast recording here.
RuPaul's Drag Race star Alaska Thunderfuck 5000, known mononymously as Alaska, wrote the musical alongside collaborators Tomas Costanza (who also produces) and Ashley Gordon. The show follows two rival drag bars, each fighting for survival while dealing with financial troubles.
The 2024 Bourbon Room cast will feature drag stars Alaska, Jujubee, Jan Sport, and Lagoona Bloo, as well as Broadway favorites Nick Adams, J. Elaine Marcos, and Jamie Torcellini, with Nick Laughlin. Additional casting will be announced in the coming weeks.
"Get ready to rock, Hollywood! The
award-winning DRAG: The Musical is
back for three epic weeks at the Bourbon
Room, and it's gonna be a show that will
blow your glittery socks off,” Costanza says in a statement. “We've got drag superstars,
Alaska Thunderfuck, Jujubee, Jan Sport,
Lagoona Bloo, and the Broadway
powerhouse Nick Adams—all ready to
blow the roof off this joint before we take
this party to NYC for an open ended residency. It's gonna be a legendary celebration of punk rock, drag culture, Broadway artistry, and the power of unapologetic storytelling.”
DRAG: The Musical is directed and choreographed by Emmy nominee Spencer Liff, with lighting design by Jared A. Sayeg, costume design by Marco Marco, scenic design by Stephen Gifford, and projection design by Aaron Rhyne.
