News Disney's Aladdin Announces National Tour The Disney musical Aladdin is firing up the magic carpet for its first national tour, set to commence with a 12-week engagement at Chicago's Palace Theatre April 11-July 2, 2017.

Reservations for groups of 15 or more are being taken now at (312) 977-1710. Tickets will go on sale to Broadway in Chicago season subscribers in March. Tickets will go on sale to the general public at a date to be announced. For more information, visit BroadwayInChicago.com.

Based on the 1992 animated Disney film, Aladdin was adapted to the stage and opened on Broadway March 20, 2014, with several additional songs. Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, Aladdin features music by Tony Award and eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Sister Act), lyrics by two-time Oscar winner Howard Ashman (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid), three-time Tony Award and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice (Evita, Aida) and four-time Tony Award nominee Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer), with a book by Beguelin.

As on Broadway, the tour will be directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon).

Thomas Schumacher, president and producer, Disney Theatrical Productions, issued a statement saying, “Aladdin will be the fourth new production we’ve launched in Chicago in 16 years. Chicago’s canny audiences, its theatrical infrastructure and its stunning theatres make it a peerless town for creating new productions. We are thrilled to return with Aladdin.”

Lou Raizin, president of Broadway In Chicago, said, “We are excited Chicago will be the first North American city outside of New York to see Aladdin.” No further dates on the tour have been announced.
