According to Deadline.com, Strathairn (The Heiress, Salome, Dance of Death, The Three Sisters) will play a lead role in ABC's drama pilot "Clementine" from Dean Georgaris, ABC Studios and the Mark Gordon Co. The project centers on Clementine, a habitual criminal who is believed to possess latent supernatural abilities. Strathairn will play her father, Henry.
Smith (Breakfast at Tiffany's, Cock) has joined the cast of Todd Haynes' "Carol," adapted from Patricia Highsmith's novella "The Price of Salt" by Phyllis Nagy. The project chronicles the tempestuous relationship between two different women in 1950s NYC, and Smith will play Tommy, a charming traveling salesman who meets Blanchett and Mara's characters on the road. Kyle Chandler and Sarah Paulson (The Glass Menagerie) also star.
According to TVLine.com, Arcelus (A Time to Kill, Elf, Jersey Boys), Tony nominee Rodriguez (The Motherf**ker With the Hat), Franka Potente, Amaury Nolasco and Erik LaRay Harvey have joined the cast of Cinemax's drama pilot "Blanco."
The project, penned by Mark Rosner and directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, will follow a gangster nicknamed Blanco (Shiloh Fernandez), who "uses his status as a confidential informant to turn the tables on law enforcement and build his criminal empire."
Potente, Nolasco and Arcelus will play Blanco's girlfriend, brother and lawyer, respectively, with Rodriguez and Harvey as NYPD detectives. Audrey Esparza and Alex Hernandez are also in the cast. According to Variety, CW's "The Flash" has cast Valdes (Once) to play mechanical engineering genius Cisco Ramon. Also featured in the potential "Arrow" spinoff (from Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and David Nutter) are Grant Gustin ("Glee"), Jesse L. Martin (Rent) and Candice Patton. Berlanti and Kreisberg will pen the script with Geoff Johns and Nutter set to direct.
