The international hit musical Come From Away, which celebrates its 1,000th performance in the West End November 28, will launch its first-ever tour of the U.K. and Ireland.
Casting for the production, which will open in Leicester in February 2024, will be announced at a later date as will additional venues and performance dates.
Come From Away shares the real-life story of the 7,000 air passengers from all over the world who were grounded in Canada during the wake of 9/11, and the small Newfoundland community that invited these "come from aways" into their lives.
As previously announced, the London production of Come From Away will end its run January 7, 2023, at the Phoenix.
The musical has a book, music, and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein and is directed by Tony winner Christopher Ashley with musical staging by Kelly Devine. The production also features music supervision and arrangements by Ian Eisendrath, scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Toni-Leslie James, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Gareth Owen, hair design by David Brian Brown, orchestrations by August Eriksmoen, and casting by Pippa Ailion and Natalie Gallacher.
The London production won four Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical.
Come From Away is produced in the U.K. by Junkyard Dog Productions and Smith & Brant Theatricals. Originally co-produced in 2015 by La Jolla Playhouse and Seattle Repertory Theatre, the musical made its way to a recently closed Broadway premiere in 2017, followed by a West End opening in 2019.
