David Saint is directing the work for the New Jersey theatre.

New Jersey's George Street Playhouse officially opens its world premiere of Chris Bohjalian's (The Flight Attendant, The Lioness) The Club March 1 after beginning previews February 27. The limited engagement will continue through March 17. Artistic Director David Saint is at the helm.

Starring are Grace Experience (Grounded) as Marion Willows, Ryan George (Midwives) as Peter Kendricks, Ali Marsh (The Commons of Pensacola) as Anne Barrows, Brendan Ryan (West Side Story) as John Willows, Samaria Nixon-Fleming (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) as Angela Kendricks, Skyler Hensley (Devil’s Hollow) as Olive Barrows, and Fred Weller (To Kill A Mockingbird) as Richard Barrows. Casting is by McCorkle Casting.

The work centers on three married couples taking refuge from the turbulent outside world, only to find out their suburban living room might not be the asylum they thought it was.

“I was immediately struck by how this complex, fascinating play set in 1968 New Jersey has an uncanny relevance to the present day,” said Saint in an earlier statement. “Chris’ nuanced examination of white saviorism and the lies we tell each other as well as ourselves is sure to provoke much discussion and debates on the ride home.”

The production features set, projection, and media design by James Youmans; costume design by Lisa Zinni; lighting design by Tyler Micoleau; original music and sound design by Scott Killian; and wig and hair design by Tommy Kurzman. Rick Sordelet is serving as fight director, and Samantha Flint is production stage manager.

Tickets are available at GeorgeStreetPlayhouse.org.
