Chicago’s Lookingglass Theatre has announced the three shows that will make up its 30th anniversary season, kicking off with the return of the circus-infused, Dickensian Hard Times. The show is directed and adapted from the Charles Dickens book by Heidi Stillman, artistic director of The Actors Gymnasium.
Performances of Hard Times will run October 4, 2017–January 14, 2018 in a co-production with The Actors Gymnasium.
The second show of the season will be Kevin Douglas’ Plantation, about a Texas matriarch who uncovers the complicated history of her ancestral home. Friends star and Lookingglass ensemble member David Schwimmer will direct the world premiere, with performances scheduled February 21–April 22, 2018.
Closing out the season next spring will be the stage adaptation of Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, adapted by David Kersnar and Althos Low. Ensemble member David Kersnar will direct the world premiere, set to run May 23–August 19, 2018.
