Cherry Jones to Make West End Debut Reprising Broadway Role in Glass Menagerie | Playbill

News Cherry Jones to Make West End Debut Reprising Broadway Role in Glass Menagerie John Tiffany’s production will also feature Michael Esper, Brian J. Smith and Kate O'Flynn.

John Tiffany’s acclaimed 2013 Broadway production of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie is to transfer to the West End, beginning performances January 26, 2017, prior to an official opening February 2, for a 13-week season through April 29.

It will feature original Broadway cast members Cherry Jones, making her West End debut as Amanda Wingfield, and Brian J. Smith as the Gentleman Caller.

The American production originated at American Repertory Theatre before transferring to the Booth Theatre on Broadway. It previously received its European premiere in a run as part of the Edinburgh International Festival earlier this summer.

Jones and Smith will be joined onstage by Michael Esper and Kate O’Flynn, who respectively played Tom and Laura in the Edinburgh iteration of the show.

The Duke of York’s Theatre will be transformed into Tennessee Williams’ St. Louis of the 1930’s by a creative team that includes designer Bob Crowley, with lighting by Natasha Katz, sound by Paul Arditti, and music by Nico Muhly. The Glass Menagerie features movement by Steven Hoggett, who has collaborated with John Tiffany on numerous previous productions, including Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Once, and Let the Right One In.

The American Repertory Theater production is being produced in London by Sonia Friedman Productions and Colin Callender, who also co-produced Tiffany's production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, in association with 1001 Nights Productions, Rupert Gavin, Just For Laughs Theatricals, Richard Winkler, and Brian Zeilinger.
