The Music Theatre Factory will present a developmental reading of Douglas Lyons and Ethan D. Pakchar's new musical Beau September 29.
Directed by Josh Rhodes(Spamalot), the cast of actor-musicians will feature Jeb Brown (Beautiful) as Beau, Andrew Cekala(Pippin) as Ace Baker, Andrea Goss (Indecent) as Le-Ann/Karina, Max Sangerman (Beautiful Noise) as Ferris, Morgan Siobhan Green (Be More Chill) as Daphney, Ryan Halsaver (Kinky Boots) as Larry, Amelia Cormack (Hadestown) as Raven, and Derek Stoltenberg (The Prom) as Dennis with Tuck Sweeney (Harry Potter & The Cursed Child) and Kelly McIntyre (Love in Hate Nation) as standbys.
Beau features a book and lyrics by Lyons (Chicken and Biscuits) and a score by Pakchar (Back to the Future) and Lyons. In the musical eight
actor-musicians tell the story of Ace Baker, a young man whose life is
altered when he discovers the grandfather his mother kept hidden is
still alive.
Beau was cast by Robin Carus. Chris
Gurr serves as musical director with Jared Lee as the music assistant
and Sarah G. Harris as stage manager.
After a 2019 bow at the
Adirondack Theatre Festival, Sony Masterworks Broadway released a
recording of the musical. In 2021, Beau was filmed by TBD Pictures and
subsequently screened at Dances with Films, Sedona International Film
Festival, and other festivals.
