National Tour News Cast Set for New Les Misérables National Tour The production kicks off in Providence, Rhode Island with Wicked alum Matt Shingledecker and more.

Following a recent two-and-a-half-year run on Broadway, the 25th anniversary production of Les Misérables will once again tour North America. Performances will begin September 21 at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Rhode Island.

Broadway alums Nick Cartell (Paramour, Scandalous) and Josh Davis (Beautiful) will lead the cast as Jean Valjean and Javert, respectively. Joining them will be Melissa Mitchell (Broadway’s Les Mis) as Fantine, Matt Shingledecker (Wicked, Spring Awakening) as Enjolras, Phoenix Best (Dear Evan Hansen) as Eponine, Joshua Grosso as Marius, Jillian Butler (Cinderella) as Cosette, J Anthony Crane (The Country House) as Thénardier, Allison Guinn (On the Town) as Madame Thénardier.

Child actors Zoe Glick and Sophie Knapp will alternate the roles of Little Cosette and Young Eponine, while Jordan Cole and Julian Emile Lerner will share the role of Gavroche.

Rounding out the company are ensemble members John Ambrosino, Robert Ariza, Daniel Berryman, Felipe Barbosa Bombonato, Gabriel Sidney Brown, Brittany Campbell, Julie Cardia, Sarah Cetrulo, Amelia Cormack, Steve Czarnecki, Julia Rose Di Piazza, Nicholas Edwards, Caitlin Finnie, Michelle Beth Herman, Monté J. Howell, Andrew Love, Maggie Elizabeth May, Matt Moisey, Mary Kate Moore, Talia Simone Robinson, Mike Schwitter, Liz Shivener, Brett Stoelker, Kyle Timson and Christopher Viljoen.

Directed by Laurence Connor and James Powell, the production of Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil’s musical began in 2009 as a 25th anniversary staging in the U.K. before playing myriad locations around the world and touring the U.S. Following a two-year tour and a five-month engagement in Toronto, the production opened in March 2014 at Broadway’s Imperial Theatre, where it ran for over 1,000 performances.

The production features set design—inspired by author Victor Hugo’s paintings—by Matt Kinley, costumes by Andreane Neofitou and Christine Rowland, lighting design by Paule Constable, sound design by Mick Potter, and projections by Fifty-Nine Productions. Casting is by Kaitlin Shaw of Tara Rubin Casting.
