Casting is complete for the West Coast premiere of the National Theatre of Scotland production of Let the Right One In, adapted for the stage by Jack Thorne from John Ajvide Lindqvist’s novel and screenplay of the same name.

Directed by John Tiffany, the production will play Berkeley Rep’s Roda Theatre May 20-June 25. Opening night is May 24.

The cast will feature Ignacio Diaz-Silverio as Oskar; Jack DiFalco as Janne, Jimmy, and Torkel; Erik Hellman as Kurt, Oskar’s Dad, Jocke, Nils, and Stefan; Michael Johnston as Jonny; Noah Lamanna as Eli; Diego Lucano as Micke; Nicole Shalhoub as Oskar’s Mum; Julius Thomas III as Halmberg and Mr. Avila; and Richard Topol as Hakan.

The supernatural thriller concerns Oskar, a bullied boy, and Eli, a reclusive teenager, who become devoted friends. When their neighborhood is haunted by a series of murders, a shocking truth tests Oskar and Eli’s growing love.

The work had its world premiere at Scotland’s Dundee Rep Theatre in 2013. The production transferred to London’s Royal Court Theatre, followed by a sold-out engagement at the West End’s Apollo Theatre. The production made its American premiere in 2015 at St. Ann’s Warehouse.

Let the Right One In has held a very special place in my heart ever since we first created the production in Scotland 10 years ago,” says director Tiffany. “It has always been our ambition to rework the play with U.S. actors, and Johanna Pfaelzer and Berkeley Rep have generously offered us that opportunity—and I couldn’t be more excited!”

The upcoming production will also have associate direction and movement by Steven Hoggett, scenic design by Christine Jones, lighting design by the late Chahine Yavroyan, sound design by Gareth Fry, costume design by Aileen Sherry, music by composers Ólafur Arnalds and Arnór Dan Arnarson, special effects design by Jeremy Chernick, special effects supervision by Lillis Meeh, associate movement direction by Yasmine Lee, vocal coaching by resident associate director Lisa Anne Porter, and casting by Jim Carnahan Casting.

Thorne, Tiffany, Hoggett, Jones, Fry, Lee, and Chernick previously collaborated on the Tony-winning Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

The Berkeley Rep production of Let the Right One In is presented in association with Bill Kenwright and Marla Rubin Productions.
