The work is a rock opera that opened at Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre in 1975. It received four Tony nominations despite running only one week. It follows Lieutenant William Calley's early days in the U.S. Army through his 1971 court trial for the My Lai massacre of innocent civilians in 1968.
