The Cape Playhouse has revealed casting for its upcoming production of the Tony-nominated musical Waitress, which will play the Massachusetts venue August 7–24.
Cape Playhouse Artistic Director Eric Rosen will direct the hit musical, which features a score by Tony nominee Sara Bareilles and a book by Jessie Nelson based on the film of the same name.
The company will be headed by Carrie St. Louis (Wicked, Rock of Ages) as Jenna, Caitlin Houlahan (Waitress, Girl from the North Country) as Dawn, Soara-Joye Ross (Crashing, Hadestown) as Becky, and John Riddle (Frozen, Titanique) as Dr. Pomatter with Robert Ariza as Earl, Nick Cearley as Ogie, Erik Lochtefeld as Cal, and John Shuman as Joe plus ensemble members Drew Becker, Jack Rasmussen, Olivia London, Cassie Donegan, Autumn Eliza Sheffy, and Renee Shohet.
The production will also have musical direction by Ryan Shirar, scenic design by Jack Magaw, costume design by Devario D. Simmons, lighting design by Kathleen Zhou, sound design by Andre Pluess, wig design by Matt Armentrout, production stage management by Arthur Atkinson, and casting by Stephanie Klapper Casting.
Also announced is casting for the murder mystery The 39 Steps, which will play the Cape Playhouse August 28–September 7.
The four actors playing 150 roles under the direction of Kimberly Senior will be Kareem Bandealy (Act(s) of God, Chicago Fire), Octavia Chavez-Richmond (Knives Out, Free Guy), Lori Vega (Dial M For Murder, Just like That), and Evan Zes (The Kite Runner, Only Murders in the Building).
The fast-paced whodunit, adapted by Patrick Barlow from the novel by John Buchan and the movie by Alfred Hitchcock, will also feature scenic design by Frank J Oliva, costume design by Sarita Fellows, lighting design by Mary Louise Geiger, sound design by Joanna Lynne Staub, production stage management by Rebecca C. Monroe, and casting by Stephanie Klapper Casting.
