In the "Broadway Draft 2015" video, hosted by NY1 correspondent Frank DiLella, On the Town's Elizabeth Stanley, Newsies favorite Andrew Keenan-Bolger and Tony-winning Genie James Monroe Iglehart, some of Broadway's best shows are picking new talent to star — much like the NFL, which begins its season next month.
Created by John Walton West, Simon Pearl, Gregg Monteith, Kevin Duda, Cody Williams and David McCall, the parody YouTube video sets the "Broadway Draft" at Joe's Pub, the popular cabaret venue downtown.
Watch for some well-played sports jargon (the "sleeper," who may be a surprise pick; and the "inflate gate," who in this case has inflated her vocal range, among others) as well as a nod to Michael Samm, the first openly gay player drafted into the NFL.
