Based on the 1933 Busby Berkeley movie musical, 42nd Street tells the story of starry-eyed Peggy Sawyer, who comes to audition for the new Julian Marsh-directed musical about to open on Broadway. While she can't seem to stay in the good graces of aging leading lady Dorothy Brock, Peggy soon catches the eye of the famous director.
With a book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, music by Harry Warren, and lyrics by Al Dubin, the score includes "We’re in the Money," "You’re Getting to be a Habit With Me," "Lullaby of Broadway," and "42nd Street."
The creative team also includes music director Milton Granger, scenic designer Kyle Dixon, original costume designer Roger Kirk, costume coordinator Paula Peasley-Ninestein, lighting designer Jose Santiago, sound designer Don Hanna, wig and hair designer Gerard Kelly, production stage manager Natalie A. Lynch, assistant stage manager Dakotah Wiley Horan, and assistant music director Robert L. Rucinski.
42nd Street is produced for North Shore Music Theatre by Bill Hanney (owner/producer), Kevin P. Hill (producing artistic director), and Tom Amos (associate producer).
